About David Arandle (TET)
Online I am known as TET or 'The Extraordinary Tourist'. My real name is 'David Arandle'. I'm a self represented artist, animator, video maker, and writer amongst many other things. I'm currently based in Gawler, South Australia.
Born in 1970, I was always interested in art from a young age, and by age 12 was writing and drawing comics featuring my own original characters. While I initially wanted to be a cartoonist, I started getting interested in computer animation and game making through the 1980s which led me into computer programming courses after failing to get into art school.
Years later I finally got into that same art school, studying to be a graphic designer, working freelance for about a decade.
As computer graphics and software slowly got better and more accessible I rediscovered storytelling through animation, and started selling my own courses in the animation software I used.
Along the way I've had various side hustles including selling my own original, whimsical cat paintings, starting and running an animated explainer video business, writing two on-going blogs, and occasionally getting paid to write as an authority on digital animation.
Some time in 2024, I decided it was time to remember what I wanted to do back when I was twelve and made the commitment to turn Resident Dragon into some kind of legacy.
While the TET character is based upon me, I don't actually live with a red fire dragon or a cat. My partner and I do have a very old dog named Oscar (who looks a lot like the little black dog on page 35 of Book 1!).
